The Glamourous Life at The Viceroy

Each time we’ve been in Palm Springs, we’ve always made it over to The Viceroy for a drink or a bite to eat. However, today was the first time we ever got to visit during the day – as spa patrons!

Ed got a nice massage and Carrie got a facial. Most importantly, we got a hearty dose of fabulousness at one of the most amazing spots here. Spa patrons = Full access to the pools, jacuzzis and grounds … and we took full advantage!

(See those nifty cabanas back there? we’re snagging one of those next time, for sure!)

Orbiting In to Palm Springs!

It’s pretty much an accepted fact that Palm Springs is now our annual retreat. This is now our third time here in four years, and we intend to keep comin’ back. We have literally just arrived at The Hideaway, a sister property of the Orbit In. Like the last two places we stayed at, it’s Mid-Century Modern loveliness.

This place is perfect for what we plan to do this trip – which is just chill out! The last two times at Palm Springs were spent doing a lot of architecture touring and checking out the vintage furniture shops and galleries, but this time our goal is to just CHILL. Carrie’s been super busy at work, and though Ed’s new job is about half as stressful as the last, he literally had no break between jobs…he ended his old job on Wednesday and started the new one on Thursday.

So this place is perfect for unwinding….there’s a pool, a firepit, and bikes. Each room has a different theme – ours is the Breuer Studio, and fittingly there are two Wassily chairs in here (just like at home!). Pretty sweet authentic mid-century modern furnishings in here.

Valentine’s Day and Carrie’s birthday are why we’re here, but we never actually need a reason to be here. :)

So we’ll keep you all updated, but till then, HI from Palm Springs! We’re goin’ to the pool!

Arrrrr!!!

Tonight we took Kendall, Jordan, Mikayla and Ethan to the Pirates Dinner Adventure. We had a blast, and they definitely stood out in all of their Pirate Gear. This was their Christmas gift from us this year and we are proud to report they did their homework – they read through the entire “How to Become a Pirate in 7 Days or Less” book we gave them, sported pirate tattoos, eye patches, vests, bandanas and even picked up a little Pirate lingo!

(*Ed’s wearing an apropos shirt – we were driving a mini-van this weekend and having mega-fun)

Once we were seated, we were introduced to our “Green Pirate”, Jose. He was our pirate of the evening, and everytime we saw him we had to stand up and cheer. Our pirate was also a big fan of the kids’ attire, so he said he’d definitely be needing their help later on in the show – he’d be bringing them on board for sure!

He made good on his promise – Kendall and Jordan went up and took their oath to be loyal pirates. They felt pretty cool going up on stage and getting their pirate hats. Mikayla and Ethan were feeling a little shy, so they watched their big sisters. Later on in the show, Kendall even got to go into costume and hang out on stage while they battled the evil Captain Sebastian the Black!

Finally, our beloved Green Pirate Jose took one last shot with the kids:

All in all, it was a great time we won’t soon forget! Now, we’re winding down from the evening of fun at the slumber party in our living room!
