(Shame on us – we are writing this 5 month recap on the day of her 6 month birthday!)
If we could sum up this month in one word, it would be FUN. Ruby is just cracking us up these days! She is so animated (and so opinionated!) already – it’s amazing. She giggles … she plays … she melts our hearts.
Ruby’s current stats:
We will find out more at her 6 month appointment, but she’s wearing her 3-6 months clothes and size 2 diapers (definitely a step up!)
Current likes:
*BATHTIME!
*Cruising around in her stroller while Mommy & Daddy do their evening run.
*Rolling … and rolling … and rolling!
She rolls in every direction, all across the room (and underneath tables!)
*Singing “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” and “Itsy Bitsy Spider”
*Petting the kitty
Current dislikes:
*Being in the car seat (still)
*Not being paid your full, undivided attention
*Taking afternoon naps
Notable Events:
*Participating in her 1st 5K!
*Visiting the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific
*Sitting up on her own (for a few seconds)
*1st Easter
*Attending birthday parties for her friends Violet, Indy & Justin
Of course, Easter was a big celebration this year. We celebrated with my family the day before and Ruby had a ton of fun with all of her cousins:
She loves her Auntie Shirley & Uncle Eric:
And of course, she was spoiled by Grandma & Papaw and got her very 1st Easter Basket with all kinds of goodies!
On Easter morning, we helped Ruby discover her basket left by the Easter Bunny! Of course, she was way more into the plastic eggs that were inside as opposed to anything else. :)
Did the Easter Bunny leave those Peeps for Ruby … or Mommy?
Daddy shows Ruby the jar of baby food in her basket (someone’s starting solids now!)
The celebrations just kept on coming, as Halmoni came to visit next.
Halmoni can’t resist buying Ruby gifts …
And they’re always pretty dresses!
We feel like huge jerks, but later that day, we ended the holiday by having dinner with Harabuji – and we forgot to bring the camera. :( We will post pics of Ruby with her Harabuji next time, we promise!
And finally, Ruby sure is working on her crawl these days. The video is kinda long, but you can see at about 35 seconds how she’s pulling her knees forward and trying to scoot. If you like cute babies that reach for toys, you will like this video.
Even though Ruby’s only five months old, we thought we might spend a fun day at the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific, where we’d been told the spectacular displays and colors are exciting even for really little babies.
It had been quite a while since either Carrie or I had been there, but we did remember what a great place it is. Split into numerous areas that represent different parts of the Pacific Ocean, the Aquarium of the Pacific educates and entertains in ways that both adults and kids can truly appreciate.
Ruby, of course, didn’t really understand what she was looking at, but there was no doubt she was fully engaged in the experience. Her eyes followed the numerous swimming sea creatures; it was really neat to see her so into it!
Naturally, it was best to travel by Baby Björn.
Here’s me pointing out some interesting sea creatures to Ruby.
And here’s Carrie and Ruby in front of the sea lion tank.
Are we sane parents for letting Ruby stick her hand in the shark tank? No need to call child protective services…these are very friendly and harmless sharks and rays!
Me and Ruby at my favorite part: the BIG shark tank! No sticking fingers in here, of course!
Carrie shows Ruby some sealife native to the northern Pacific.
Oooh, big jellyfish!
And finally, some serious Ruby cuteness, if I do say so myself…
Awesome day; click here to see the whole album!
