Happy Due Date to Us!

Well, today was Ruby’s due date … but as of 9:15pm, there’s still no Ruby! That’s okay, we had a blast tonight with our friends The Shriers and The Arzates, and they convinced us taking a few pics of my pregnant self would be a good idea, since we’re so close to the end.

So here we are – in our final days of being a twosome. In just a few days that belly is gonna be a memory, we’ll be looking down at a baby girl who used to live in there – whoa!

Here are just a few more of us, totally goofing around…

Ruby gets served her eviction notice!

Well, it’s been quite an adventure over the last 39 weeks and 6 days, but its quickly coming to an end – Ruby will be here very soon! At my doctor appointment yesterday, they decided to schedule an induction for Monday, November 1st at 9:00am. Of course, you never know – maybe our little girl will be punctual and arrive promptly on her due date tomorrow, or maybe she’ll be dramatic and decide to be born on Halloween? Either way, we’ll be meeting her by this Monday at the latest!

At first I was a little sad, I had in my mind that this was going to be an October baby, but then I realized, if she is born on Monday her 1st birthday will be on 11/1/11. That’s pretty cool, right? Of course, my dad is hoping for Nov. 4th, and has even said she’d score this awesome highchair if she decides to share a birthday with her Papaw, but it’s looking like she’ll be a few days earlier than that.

At the end, all that really matters is she arrives healthy & happy … so we will just enjoy the last few days of just these two old cool kims and get ready for the big day on Monday!

Ruby gets showered … twice!

Ed & I were lucky enough to be thrown TWO showers before Ruby’s arrival. The first shower was thrown by my very creative & talented sister-in-law, Shirley and hosted by my parents at their house. Shirley made the shower my favorite red and white polka dot theme! One of the big highlights was that my Aunt Pam was able to make it out to CA for the event, and she hasn’t been here in 12 years! Here are a few photos of the lovely day:

Ruby is gonna be a mod little baby in these onesies:

After all of the diaper cakes I’ve made, somebody made me my very own for Little Miss Ruby! :) This was made by my sis-in-law’s sister, Debbie.

My dad wrote a much more detailed entry of the day on his blog – check out more pics and details there!

My 2nd shower was graciously thrown by my best friend Carrie and her sister, Annie. They put together a beautiful shower in Carrie’s backyard. It was a great day with all of my friends – and so many handmade gifts! Here are a few highlights:

Me with Joni & Carrie! Longtime friends, one a bridesmaid, the other my matron of honor, even!

The whole day was just wonderful and I wish I had more words to describe all the love I felt at both events and all of the excitement everyone has to meet our daughter! I feel tremendously lucky and thank everyone for their love & generosity!
