Fathers Day 2013

Answers by Ruby (are underlined).

We had a great time celebrating the best dad in the world this weekend! Ed woke up and got to enjoy his very favorite Weisswurst sausages for breakfast — with sweet mustard, of course — straight from Bavaria, thanks to Andreas, who is visiting us from Germany. Ed couldn’t have been happier.

After breakfast, we headed out to the Concours d’Elegance in Beverly Hills. Each year, they close down Rodeo Drive, line it with expensive, unusual and exotic cars, and allow for some serious oohing and ahhhing for those of us not in the 1%! It was a blast.

Since we were right around the corner, we decided we had to take an ice cream break, and headed over to  Ice Cream Lab. They make the ice cream right there in front of you. Since we couldn’t decide on one flavor, the four of us shared four different kinds. It was perfect!

Afterwards, we decided to head over to Amoeba to get a little record shopping in, and since Andreas mentioned he still hadn’t had an American burger yet on his visit (we’ve been filling him with Mexican food!), we decided he had to experience Umami Burger. As you’d expect, it went over very well!

Ed said it was a great day, so we consider our celebration of the world’s greatest dad a huge success!

Ruby’s 2nd Annual Valentine Party

Ruby hosted her 2nd Valentine Party this year, and it was super cute and super fun — but there is a HUGE difference between having nine 2-year olds at your house vs. 1-year olds like last year!

I didn’t go as crazy as last year, but I still managed to whip up a few mini-cupcakes and some snacks, and we had a little craft station set up outside to make Valentine picture frames for the dads. The kids kept stealing toys from each other played, the moms broke up fights got some chatting in, and Charlotte even managed to model her picture frame for us!

The best part was the Valentine card exchange! I just couldn’t envision anything cuter than these kids passing out little cards like I used to when I was in school. All the moms were into it — some got crafty and made their own beautiful cards, while some moms went old school and bought the kind in the box just like our moms used to do! We even got lucky and got them all to sit for two seconds before passing them out.

I can’t help but love the day of love, and I especially love seeing all these kiddos and their mommas feeling the love as well!

The Halloween Crew

Mason, Violet, Ruby, Berlin, Harper + Drew

This year, everybody came over to our house to trick-or-treat down our street and to hit up the free carnival at the park at the end of our block. We managed to get a pic of all the kiddos before the madness began. So hard to believe how much they’ve all grown in just a year.

Last year, Ruby wasn’t even walking … this year, she walked up and down the street and all the way to the park and back!

She had fun with Papaw

Ruby + Drew pretty much held hands all night

And Halmoni came along for trick-or-treating, too!

And yes, she enjoyed her 1st lollipop. Look at that face!

She sure has changed a lot since last year!

Happy Halloween!

Homies

Ruby + Nora have become good buddies – they spend a lot of time together, and at times, both of them can be a little obsessed.

One thing is for certain, I never get tired of seeing these two together.
